IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION FOR HCPS PATIENTS Health, Counseling and Prevention Services provides primary medical services to Northern Kentucky University students, faculty and staff, as well as individual, group and couples counseling to NKU students. After many months of planning, the department will begin accepting insurance coverage for all services effective May 7, 2012. In other words, just like other healthcare providers you may see, when you meet with one of NKU's health or counseling staff members, their services are likely to be covered by your health insurance. This is good news for several reasons.
The amount charged per visit will be based upon the type and complexity of the service provided. Copays and deductibles are due at the time of service. The department will handle the entire process of billing your health insurance carrier, so you will not have to file claim forms yourself. Just be sure to bring your insurance card with you to each visit. The University strongly encourages all students to maintain adequate health insurance coverage at all times. Fast and convenient access to healthcare is important for students to avoid disruption of their studies, not to mention significant financial hardship should major medical care be required due to an unforeseen illness or injury. An out-of-pocket fee schedule for those without insurance benefits will be available. If you need additional information or have questions, please call us at (859) 572-5650 or visit the department in University Center, suite 440. We look forward to serving your healthcare needs. |
